Super Junior is a South Korean idol pop group loved around the world. Super Junior are known as the Kings of Hallyu (Korean Wave) and the Album Kings.
On November 6th, 2005, Super Junior debuted with twelve members, consisting of Leeteuk, Heechul, Hankyung, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook and Kibum. Kyuhyun joined the group in 2006.
Zhoumi and Henry came on board in 2008 as part of sub-group Super Junior-M. Over the years, Super Junior has formed sub-groups to target different musical genres and audiences.
Super Junior are also very successful in the entertainment fields of television variety and dramas, radio broadcasts, film, musicals and more. Largely due to Super Juniors success as multi-faceted entertainers, other groups started to follow their footsteps in acting, modeling, hosting and djing.
In 2009, Super Junior launched into international recognition following the release of their best-selling single “Sorry, Sorry”. As the best-selling K-pop artist for three years in a row, Super Junior have earned over 200 awards within and outside of Korea.
Super Junior were honored as Korea’s National Pop Culture Icon for their role in spreading Hallyu (Korean Wave). They received the Minister of Culture Awards by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
They were even featured on CNN and spoke about their international success and their strategies for advancing into the world music industry.
Super Junior have achieved recognition way beyond Asia! Their popularity have spread to Europe, North America, South America, Australian Continent and the Middle East.
Peru’s Top 30 ranking of The Sexiest Men in the World included all of the members on the list…and Donghae was voted the #1 Sexiest Korean Male!
Super Junior gave exclusive interviews to Slovenian and Iranian magazines. Brazilian Hallyu fans selected them to be the #1 Korean artist they want to visit Brazil.
The United Kingdom’s BCC and Mexico’s Azteca TV even pronounced Super Junior to be the leading icons of Hallyu!
Super Junior’s sold-out Super Show 5 World Tour took them to 15 countries, including Mexico, United Kingdom, Brazil, Peru, Chile and Argentina…proving their immense popularity overseas.
